What is the Massachusetts Medicaid Policy Institute (MMPI)?
MMPI is a subsidiary of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation. The initial funding for MMPI came in the form of a $1 million grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts to the BCBSMA Foundation. MMPI is now supported by the BCBSMA Foundation and a number of other private organizations with an interest in a strong, effective, Medicaid program. A 16-member Board of Directors, composed of leaders from a diverse spectrum of interests, governs the Institute.
What does the Massachusetts Medicaid Policy Institute do?
MMPI conducts and commissions independent and nonpartisan information and analysis about the Massachusetts Medicaid program, “MassHealth.” MMPI promotes broader understanding of MassHealth and its interrelatedness with other health care programs for low income people, and a more rigorous and thoughtful public discussion of the program’s successes and the challenges ahead. It collaborates with a wide spectrum of policy makers, legislators, researchers, providers, advocacy groups, consumer organizations, business and other stakeholders.
