The Catalyst Fund is funded entirely with donations from employees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Grants are awarded every month, except for July and August. They assist with one-time non-renewable expenses that strengthen an organization's capacity to expand access to health care in Massachusetts. Funding amounts are awarded up to $5,000 for a twelve-month period. Since 2002, the Catalyst Fund has distributed more than $800,000 in over 300 grants to community-based organizations, health centers, clinics, and health advocacy groups.
