On October 29, 2009, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation hosted "Improving Access to Children’s Behavioral Health Services: Challenges and Opportunities," a conference focused on the challenges and opportunities created by Chapter 321: An Act Relative to Children’s Mental Health; the Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative; and expansion of Mental Health Parity. The event was attended by leaders from the behavioral health, healthcare, educational, consumer, and advocacy communities, including Massachusetts Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health Barbara Leadholm. The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation also presented findings from its survey of behavioral health providers about issues facing the field.
